About Geya

Originally from Baytown, TX, Geya Prudhomme went to Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA where she graduated with Honors with a Bachelor of Science Degree. During her time as an undergraduate, she was on a full academic and volleyball scholarship. In addition to being a student athlete, she was also a member of the Student Government Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and was extremely active in the Alpha Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Upon graduation, she continued her education at the Southern University Law Center and earned her Juris Doctorate Degree in 2003. While in law school, she served on the Moot Court Board, ATLA, BLSA, Louis A. Martinet Society, Inns of Court and was a student attorney for the Juvenile Court Clinic.

Geya has been practicing law in Louisiana for 12 years and is a former Assistant District Attorney for Caddo Parish. As a prosecutor, she was a supervisor that handled high grade felony cases, an array of violent crimes and high profile cases. She was also appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court to serve as a temporary ad hoc City Court Judge. She believes the most important aspect of being a good lawyer is being a great listener, an effective communicator and always going above and beyond to assist her clients. She is proud of being a trial attorney and is most comfortable in a courtroom standing in front of a Judge or Jury.

She is married to Attorney Carlos Prudhomme and has two small children, Zuri and Maze. In her free time, she enjoys doing community service with her sorority, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
